PREVENTION PROJECT
AVA has been funded by Comic Relief to look at how to prevent Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG). Over the last five years we have worked with a range of partners to evaluate current prevention programmes and to develop a whole school approach model. The learning from this work led to the development of this prevention platform which aims to be a unique ‘one-stop shop’ for information, tools and resources to help you prevent VAWG with the young people you work with.
In the first stage of this project we evaluated the work of six grassroot expert organisations:
- Southall Black Sisters
- Tender
- Respond
- Victim Support Cornwall – SAFE Project
- Equation (formerly Nottinghamshire Domestic Violence Forum)
- Off the Record (Bath and Bristol)
In the most recent stage we worked with the following regional partners:
- Southampton Rape Crisis – STAR project
- Cambridgeshire County Council
- Limes College in Sutton
- Leicestershire Women’s Aid
We would like to thank all of these fantastic organisations for the work they do to prevent VAWG and to protect survivors of abuse.
