Information, guidance and useful tools on education to prevent Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

This section of the website is full of information, guidance and useful tools for education professionals to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme to stop Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). It has been written for education professionals to gain a greater understanding of how to deliver a comprehensive prevention programme in their organisation. The resources can also be adapted and used by anyone working with children and young people.

We have worked with schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and youth services across the UK to figure out what works in prevention education. What we know is documented in this section.

Please use the menu on the right hand side to navigate through the different sections.

Please navigate through this section to find the information that you need.

UNDERSTAND VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS (VAWG): The first step is to understand the most common forms of violence against women and girls. Our understanding pages include fact sheets on the most common forms of Violence Against Women and Girls.

PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS (VAWG): Comprehensive prevention education programmes can begin to stop violence against women and girls. • Safeguarding to support people that experience forms of VAWG,
  • Participating to actively prevent VAWG,
  • Campaigning to take action to stop VAWG,
  • Localising to work in relevant expert partnerships,
  • Institutionalising to embed a comprehensive prevention programme.

EDUCATION IN DIFFERENT ORGANISATIONS: Whether you are a youth worker, a primary or secondary teacher, canteen staff, a caretaker, a teaching assistant, a PRU manager, or any other person working in education, you can make a difference to the lives of children and young people. This section gives guidance on how to work in specific education organisations like a primary school, a PRU, a secondary school and a youth group.
