Information on Special Constables
Special Constabularies are a force of volunteers who receive training from their local police force to work with and offer support to regular police officers. They give an average of at least four hours of their time a week and are a vital link wih the local neighbourhood.
What powers do Special Constables have?
Special Constables have the same powers as regular officers (for example, the power to make arrests), and wear a similar uniform. They are trained to work in support of regular officers, and make the most effective contribution to local police initiatives.
